Joe Browns reveals opening date for fourth store

Published

It may have an ambitious store opening programme, but for now Joe Browns still has only a few stores up and running so any new location is a big deal. And the company has just revealed the opening date for its new Leeds branch.

The store, which is in the company’s hometown, will open at the White Rose Shopping Centre on 2 December. It will become the fourth Joe Browns store. The other three can be found in York, Sheffield and Bowness on Windermere.

The fashion ad homewares retailer is opening a 3,000 sq ft standalone that will carry 400 lines across womenswear, menswear, and home.

The company said the “shop fit has an eclectic and unique approach to retail making it a standout space within the White Rose Shopping Centre”.

It’s focused round a central pergola, with “rich tones of purple, teal and deep blues [to] create the perfect backdrop for Joe Browns collections alongside neon slogans such as ‘Be Remarkable’, all bringing the retailer’s ethos to life”.

The space was previously a branch of failed Paperchase (the brand now owned by Tesco) and will create 14 new jobs.

CEO Peter Alecock said the shopping Centre “is a fantastic location” and the opening comes during the firm’s 25th anniversary year.

The company has a number of promotions lined up to coincide with the debut and is keen to engage with the local community. For instance, it’s looking for people called Joe and Jo to help it officially launch the store. It said “the call is for only remarkable Joe’s or Jo’s, the local heroes who go that extra mile to help others. The chosen ones will need to be available on the morning of 2nd December and will receive a Joe Browns outfit as a thank you”.

Earlier this year the retailer — which has just appointed a new chairman — announced its expansion plans and is currently searching for sites for another nine new stores across the UK. It has also completed a warehouse upgrade as well as going on TV for the first time with two ads for AW24 and Christmas.
