Depop secures prime Sook pop-ups for 11 circular fashion brands

Published
Nov 23, 2023

Circularity-focused marketplace Depop is to launch a series of high-profile temporary stores over six months in partnership with retail pop-up provider Sook.

Those major venues include Oxford Street and South Molton Street in London, the Birmingham Bullring, Liverpool One and Edinburgh’s St James Quarter.

The company announced a link-up last month to get online sellers into physical spaces and now it has provided more detail about the partnership.

To kick off the series, four immersive pop-ups will feature in London in November and December, “encouraging more people to shop secondhand while reviving the high street for the Christmas Party season”, Depop said.

Running on 30 November, and across four dates in December (15-16 and 22-24) the London free-to-attend events “will bring the best of Depop to life”.

The events will bring 11 unique sellers into Sook’s pop-up spaces in Central London, kicking off with streetwear brand Kathandrosa taking over its South Molton Street space on the 30 November with an edit of handpicked vintage and Y2K pieces.

"It’s all about encouraging sellers to connect with their fans in real life and reaching new audiences of fashion-conscious consumers in the capital", Depop said.

Then fellow casualwear sites Celiapops, Alicefletchf and Reloadedldn will bring their curated collections of Y2K styles, handpicked designer and original designs to Sook’s Oxford Street retail space for two days (15-16 December).

They will be followed by Chrissynx, Shophenri, Jwarren and Katierowe100 featuring their handpicked vintage and 00’s styles in Oxford Street across 22-24 December.

The 2023 series will be closed out by Imdesigns, Elianaavinntage and Ellboll taking over the Oxford St space on 30 December, with more pop-ups to come across the country in 2024, it added.

The event series has been made possible through ‘Powered by Depop’, a programme that gives “sellers the tools to take their business offline and aims to promote the purchase of circular fashion”.

Steve Dool, Director of Brand and Marketing at Depop, added: “By partnering with Sook, we hope we can reach and inspire more people to look to circular fashion options that are kinder to the planet, rather than buying new.”

John Hoyle, Founder of Sook, added: “This new partnership is in line with our goal of supporting brands in bringing their vision to life, and is reflective of the growing appetite amongst UK consumers to shop more consciously.”
