Supermodel-turned-entrepreneur Karlie Kloss continues to build up her business empire and has acquired influential publication i-D magazine from Vice Media via the new Bedford Media company of which she’s the chairwoman.

The UK-based fashion and youth culture magazine will continue to be run by editor-in-chief Alastair McKimm who will also be global editor-in-chief and creative director. Kloss will be chief executive, a memo obtained by The Hollywood Reporter says.

The same memo said she “has a vision for the future of i-D and the industry at large”.

It’s not her first step into the media world and Kloss previously acquired W Magazine as part of an investor group.

i-D was founded in 1980 by designer and former Vogue art director Terry Jones and has morphed from its very basic original format — in which it documented the immediate punk/post-punk era in the UK — to a glossier global youth culture tome.

While still active as a model (most notably as the face of Carolina Herrera’s Good Girl scents), Kloss has expanded her business operations and other projects in recent years. These include her Kode with Klossy free coding camp for girls, and as of 2022, the Roblox-immersed fashion-based world Klosette. She’s also been investing in fashion-linked digital start-ups.
