Primark hits Spanish landmark with 60th store

Published

Hailed as a “significant milestone”, value lifestyle/fashion retail giant Primark is celebrating the opening of its 60th store in Spain.

The new €6 million store in the historic town of Lorca is part of Primark’s ambitious commitment to invest €100 million in its Spanish business, spending €80 million to open eight new stores and one extension, and €20 million on store refurbishments.

Lorca becomes the fourth of these new stores to open, following the opening of Toledo Luz del Tajo in April, Open Mall Lanzarote in June, and Melilla in September, as well as the recent Diagonal Mar store extension in October.

Next year, Primark will open four more stores, one in Jaén Plaza and a further three in the wider Madrid areas of La Vaguada, Alcalá Magna and Calle del Conde de Peñalver.

But the latest opening now means the retailer has a presence in all Autonomous Communities and the Autonomous City of Melilla and employs a workforce of over 10,000 across Spain, operating from its regional office on Madrid’s Gran Via.

Carlos Inacio, General Director of Primark in Spain, said: “This very exciting milestone reflects Primark’s dedication to growth in the Spanish market, increasing our number of stores, reaching more customers throughout the country and creating job opportunities.”
