H&M Group’s Arket brand is the latest to move into the resale segment with Arket Archive launching as a new resale destination for the label’s own pre-loved designs.

Arket

It launches in the UK and Sweden on Thursday (23 November) as a platform for secondhand ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories and childrenswear from the brand.

The company said that through the resale programme, “beautiful pieces from the wardrobes of the brand’s community will be matched with new owners, giving Arket designs a chance to find a second, third or even fourth home”.

Customers are “invited to list their secondhand products and earn cash or a voucher for their next Arket online purchase. The initiative comes as an extension of the brand’s vision to offer functional essentials designed to be used and loved for a long time”.

The retailer’s Head of Growth & Sustainability, Ville Klemming, said: “We want to encourage a circular mindset and serve members of our community, for whom buying second-hand comes as naturally as buying new. We design for a long life, so offering a resale platform exclusive for Arket items makes perfect sense to us. We hope to integrate resale as a natural part of our customer experience.”

The new platform is launching in partnership with Archive, a major technology platform for branded resale. Arket said such link-ups with innovators are “essential” for it to fulfil its “commitment to contribute to a fashion ecosystem where resources are kept in use for as long as possible”.
